Hyang-mi wonders what Jae-chan has up his sleeve to be so confident that he can succeed with such a risky move. Chief Choi chuckles and says that Jae-chan lives like every day is his last, not thinking of tomorrow as he jumps into the fire. But she pops up next to him in person instead. She says she saw it in a dream, and his expression brightens immediately. Prosecutor Sohn trudges back to her office in a daze, when Prosecutor Lee comes running up to tell her about Jae-chan signing off on the transplant surgery. Jae-chan takes his hand and promises to get a guilty ruling in court. In the operating room, the teaching assistant is declared dead and his organs are removed for donation. Hong-joo admits that she lied about that, because Jae-chan was so lacking in confidence that she wanted to cheer him up. She looks over at him thoughtfully and asks if he has a secret like that, but he says no. Yoo-bum meets with his client, Professor Moon, who has the nerve to be upset at the victim for making him look like a murderer to the world. Yoo-bum points out that he is a murderer, having learned that the professor intentionally shoved the victim down the elevator shaft. The sunbae prosecutors all warn Jae-chan that going after the defendant for murder is risky, and that he should consider accidental homicide instead. But Jae-chan argues that you have to charge a murderer with murder, and refuses to lessen the charge just to ensure a win in court. The trial begins and Jae-chan goes for the murder charge as planned, and Yoo-bum pleads not guilty, saying that a fight did occur, but the victim was drunk and fell down the elevator shaft himself by accident. Prosecutor Sohn, meanwhile, stays late at the office studying medical texts and diligently making notes. Everyone worries about Jae-chan questioning the child witness in court, and he asks Woo-tak how he managed to get the initial testimony at the police station. Woo-tak says very professionally that he approached the child in a relatable way, and Jae-chan asks for a demonstration. Woo-tak braces himself and then launches into aegyotastic baby-talk, while Jae-chan makes horrified faces and Mom and Seung-won crack up in the background. Everyone rushes off for work and school, while Hong-joo stays behind to sew a button back onto her shirt. She confronts Mom about it, and asks why she would purposely hide it. Mom knows that Hong-joo feels the same way, reminding her of how broken up she was at the hospital when Jae-chan was shot, and how scared she was that he would die just like Dad. Jae-chan takes all this in with a sad expression, and then shuts the door again to pretend that he just came inside to fetch his phone. Yoo-bum takes a turn and says that the boy can go home soon if he can recall the number of the bus he took this morning, and the boy lies. But Jae-chan decides to try again and grabs the microphone with a determined look on his face. The sunbae prosecutors gape in embarrassment, but the boy lifts his head and starts answering Jae-chan. The boy confirms that he only tells the truth to Santa and his friends, and then Jae-chan shows him the picture that the boy drew of the crime scene. It works, and then he asks what happened after that, and the boy says one ajusshi strangled the other until he fell asleep, and then he pushed him down the elevator shaft. EPISODE 24 Seung-won stops by the local convenience store and is surprised to see his classmate Dae-gu working there. Dae-gu asks if his mom sent him on an errand, and Seung-won explains that his parents passed away, and he does all the housework. He makes an excuse that his brother is busy because of a big trial right now, and Dae-gu hurriedly tells him to forget it, feeling bad that he asked. Mom stores away the extra seating they had at the dining table and tells Hong-joo to have the boys eat breakfast on their own from now on. At the hospital, Brainy Smurf comes running up to his mom to announce that he was able to go to the bathroom all on his own. Hong-joo calls Woo-tak on her way out that morning and cancels breakfast, saying that Mom is busy because of the restaurant for the time being. He mentions that he found her extra battery in his car—the red one—and Hong-joo grows quiet. This must be what she was studying all those medical texts for. Yoo-bum begins to shred tiny bits of paper, and Jae-chan flashes her a thumbs-up for her impressive showing. It surprises everyone in the room when the only thing Yoo-bum cares to ask the witness is the exact time that the victim was declared dead, confirming that the cause of death was heart arrest, induced before beginning the organ transplant surgery. But this time Hong-joo is next to him and offers to lead him outside to calm down. Did she see this in a dream after all? He says that you can remove any other person or part of the timeline—from the doctor to the surgery—and still end up with the same result, but if you removed the defendant, that young man would still be alive today, chasing his dream. It must judge clearly and fairly who is most responsible for that death. Afterwards, Prosecutor Sohn thanks Jae-chan sincerely, saying that thanks to him, she can finally sleep with her feet stretched out. She bear-hugs him, spilling emotional tears, while he just flails awkwardly at the sudden display of affection. Yoo-bum furiously scrubs his hands at the bathroom sink and then slams a fist into the paper towel dispenser when he finds it empty. Dae-gu is there too and offers his handkerchief, but Yoo-bum just storms out, and Dae-gu picks up the green umbrella that he left behind. Jae-chan happens to come to the laundromat while Mom is there, and stumbles over his words not to call her Mother. Mom finishes his sentence with him, having already heard it from Hong-joo, and accuses them of planning this accidental run-in. She asks for his forgiveness and thanks him for loving Hong-joo, and he thanks her back, only to overstep and call her Mother as in mother-in-law, hee. But he earns a hug, which makes him adorably happy. Jae-chan drools over the car, and Prosecutor Lee offers to let him borrow it any time, because the verdict just came out and Professor Moon was found guilty. Hong-joo is surprised when Jae-chan picks her up for a beach date, and she marvels to see that he found the exact beach pictured in that poster. But that blessing starved the anticipation of a gift, and broke the spirit to face a challenge, and turned off the signal of hope. Those are other names for despair, and the loss of everything when you give up. Bong sunbae reports the suicide of a prison inmate who left a note saying that he was framed, and Dae-gu collapses in tears when he sees the news. Oh no, it was his father. At the police station, one of the officers asks Woo-tak if the radios have been charged yet, and he hesitates, looking down at the row of green lights. As Jae-chan and Hong-joo enjoy the ocean view, he continues in voiceover that he hopes for this moment to become a rest stop before the futile cycle begins. COMMENTS Another ominous voiceover. Will the dreams begin to lead them astray? I have to admit, I really want to see that happen at this point, because thus far, the dreams have had less to do in this story than I wanted, which is a shame given the promises of fantasy. I want to see more twists—dreams that contradict in impossible ways, or lead them down the wrong path, or cause costly consequences—which were hinted at early on but have yet to be delivered on. I can see how it could be a devastating secret for him, since it would prevent him from being a cop, but as far as dramatic reveals and plot turns go, this was not one of them. Somebody needs to burn that thing. There is human judgment and ethical choice involved, and just when I thought that our hero would be outsmarted by someone who knew the law better than he did, he reminded everyone that the law has a moral duty too. Notice that it's a green umbrella. Pfft, I'm going to wait to predict something when I have more information. The Voiceovers of Foreshadowing are certainly good at building suspense. I do hope this drama has a good ending, and if the characters are narrating it from some indeterminate time in the future, let it be a happy time! Thanks for the great recap,! I don't have much to say that hasn't been said in the recap, but I must say that there was so much to love in this episode. I know it's dramaland, and everything will come out all right in the end, but they sure are working to make the future seem dark and foreboding. Keep your eye on the umbrella. I'm sure it won't be Dae Gu that tries to kill Hong Joo, so who will get it from him? Also good catch on Woo Tak and colorblindness. That totally explains why Hong Joo was disturbed when he said he found her red charger. Not sure why she suspected this, but she must have deliberately dropped a green one or something like that to confirm her suspicions. I liked this episode, it flowed better than yesterday's ep, and everything fit well. The beach scene in the end was lovely but left me feeling uneasy because of the foreshadowing. However I don't see why JC is afraid of a future that is set in stone, when he is the one who has been changing the future continuously, and hence giving poor HJ hope. I liked how he wanted to give HJ a respite from it all by taking her to the beach. Anyways I am enjoying this show, and looking forward to next week's episodes eek it looks like there will be a fire in next week's ep! Is Woo Tak's big secret seriously his color blindness? That would be disappointing. It's a huge deal for him considering his profession but storywise I was expecting something bigger and more compelling given all the buildup. Hopefully there's more to it, his empty fridge and the fact that the guy is such an experienced liar alludes to more. How beautiful was that beach scene. Even the ominous voice overs couldn't mar the calm and peacefulness. This was on the police station before he was asked by the policewoman about the radio charging. I am also curious on what will happen to the green umbrella!! But i guess that plot would be too easy to guess.. The road was empty and he just crossed the street alone not knowing that he should not have. This also explains why he sees other cars first everytime he drives on the redlight. Because he doesnt know when it turns green so he relies on other cars. Really this drama has shown us hints about his colorblindness and he must have been done something quite bad in the past due to this fact beside lying on the police test so he could still be a police officer It saddens me to see this drama doesn't get the attention it deserves.. The relationship between parents and children was really emhpasized in this episode which always warms my heart. Woo Tak''s secret being color blind kinda had me laughing for a secone but the when explained it I reliazed it can be quite a big deal for a police officer... I don't think WT's color blindness is his main secret but could be one of his other secrets as to who he is. As a police officer this weakness can be taken advantage of especially if you have someone like lawyer YB finding out for a case in representing his client. Its a troublesome weakness, but somehow WT has managed to hide it very well e. I do not know what could happen if there was a murder scene and he is there, blood is straightforward to a point but other things that could help in solving the case may not. Also I do not think we realized this until this episode as in last week episodes when WT was helping HJ to find the robo vacuum, he did not give her the right color. This confirmed that HJ now knows his secret of color blindness, most of us including others do not know the rest. HJ is trying to find what secret does WT has, she has identified one. As for the boy Dae gu whose father killed himself, it would not surprise him if he decides to attack YB as a form of revenge, hence the umbrella can be used to frame YB as people knows that its his, may even have his name on the handle. Dae gu can strategize to make YB a murderer just like he did to his father its a dangerous but somewhat smart payback. SW was put in an awkward position due to his request but its a good reason he gave to Dae gu, JC was working hard on a case so at that time he would not have the opportunity to look into the boy's matter until after he finished this case. They have such sincere care and love for each other, they are also open in communicating to each other and it shows. Kudos to the actresses for showing this. Have a good weekend. I really did enjoy this episode, more so for the suspense that JaeChan was being really confident and brash acting upon HongJu's dream lie so I didn't know whether he was going to win or not. We were so worried he took it for granted and that would cause his downfall. So the courtroom fight was intense and felt real in the sense that we were hanging on to every scene hoping for the best, which was a good change because we always knew the good guys win but not this time. I'm really glad WooTak didn't turn out to be a murderer or something drastic that would split up our Three Flying Dragons! Though I wish it was a bit more dramatic than being colour blind. I get it now why she needs not reveal the reason for gratitude. I like how JC is being modest that people need not to thank him when he is just doing his job. So Batman is color blind. Seems very trivial as opposed to all the theories we have. The voiceover narration is ominously beautiful. It really sums up what we have been going through all these episodes. Knowing the future can be a blessing as much as it can be a curse. Whether we are all working on some predetermined track and knowing that we are only set up for a particular ends. It is so scary to even imagine. Do we not have strength to change? Or it will leads us back to same conclusion. Its almost similar to going to a fortune teller. My colleague just shared an incidence with me. There was this fortune teller that she always frequent and her husband always rely on him for some decision making. So fast forward, they brought a friend to him. The FT told him that his elderly mom will die very soon and will follow shortly by his wife's demise. Sadly, all these happen in matter of no more than 3 months. The wife is such a stubborn person that the husband had to physically force her which also unfortunately caused a police alarm just to get her for a medical check up. I liked Jae Chan, Hong joo, and Woo Tak's aegyo. They are all good at it, LOL. I am wondering if it's important because cops need to tell the difference with street lights? Although they are on different levels so you can tell the difference. Everytime I watch this drama, I think about 80% of my attention goes to Woo Tak. While I am somewhat glad that his secret is just color blindness, this secret is a little underwhelming so I hope there are more Woo Tak's secret in the future. It is actually very interesting how LYB keep washing his hands everytime he defends some killer and how he always take his watch off everytime a killer consult with him as if the watch is too holly to be with him at that moment.. Interesting that no beanie has deducted points from Woo Tak regarding his callousness and irresponsibility for hiding his color blindness. There are very good reasons to disallow color blind people from being public safety officers. It puts lives at risk. This is not simply a bureaucratic and arbitrary technicality. It then begs the question, why is it so important to Woo Tak that he become a police officer? He's been shown as intelligent although mysterious individual. He must recognize his disability puts him at a greater risk to make errors in critical situations. Thank you for the recap girlfriday! It seems like the dreams just happen for hongju or jae chan to be saved, or to help jaechan in his cases. Poor woo takie Starting this drama, I was really excited because of the dreams and fantasy element. The first two episodes got me hooked, especially with the twist that jaechan is also a dreamer! The next episodes are still great, but I think the power to see and change the future with 3 people who can! Regardless, I'm enjoying all the episodes. I adore the cast, and everyone's doing a great job. I just hope the eps could have more tension and ooomph in the next two weeks. Omg, Woo tak is color blind? That is the secret he is hiding. Being a policeman, and being colorblind is bound to make a mistake. No wonder he's been keeping it as a secret. But how come Hong joo knows about it? She saw it in her dream or she did she find that piece of information on her own with her observation skills? I dont know why, but even though Suzy has improved in her acting, but she seemed to lack screen presence a lot. I believe Jung Hae-in said somewhere that there was a clue to his character's secret in the way he is first introduced to the audience. I got a little confused because I believe Woo-tak was first introduced as the mysterious stranger following Hong-joo's mother, but maybe the actor was referring to the scene when Woo-tak gets struck by the car in the dream sequence. Now that his red-green color blindness has been revealed, I think that you might be right about why he was struck by the car in the first episode. I think the first case is most common, however I lso think the colours can be seen as shades of grey eg. From the perspective of the individual affected this becomes 'nomal' though pf course it's out of kilter with us so-called normal people. It's an inherited condition affecting males more commonly than females. The 6 to 7 million cones in the human retina are responsible for color vision, and these photoreceptors are concentrated in the central zone of the retina called the macula. The center of the macula is called the fovea, and this tiny 0. Inherited forms of colour blindness often are related to deficiencies in certain types of cones or outright absence of these cones. In this particular case, maybe because of lack of premeditation, it could be classed as a 2nd degree murder. Not sure if there are mandatory sentencing laws or just guidelines in the case of Korean justice system. I totally enjoyed watching the part where Jae Chan was delivering his last statements. The strong conviction in his voice added to the overall emotional impact of the scene. Seems like the climax of the story is going to start next week. I do feel that it has lost some of it's magic though. I still remember the second episode, well the end of the first full hour of the show , where Suzy does the unthinkable and believes Jae Chan's outrageous story. That was a magical moment because it was so unusual. The next few cases include ones where the 3 flying dragons have been able to defeat the evil Yoo Bum using their powers. And yet he's still cocky and thinks he can beat Jae Chan. I think that we need to have an arc where the 3 dragons pull off something impossible, that just really makes Yoo Bum speechless. Something where there's no way they could know about a certain fact that makes him quake in fear or astonished disbelief. Right now every loss he's faced has been plausible due to Jae Chan's alleged great job as a prosecutor, except for him losing his girlfriend Hong Joo. We need another event where he knows he has it in the bag, there's no way he can lose, unless something impossible happens. It feels like something will eventually still happen on Christmas where Hong Joo originally would jump off the hospital or something else. But hopefully it would just end with fast forward to present time 2017, and they get married or something. PS: it's chilling to just realized how the kid who Jae Chan helped getting her balloon in the early episodes is from the same kindergarten with same yellow cap uniform with the witness in this case. How everything is connected somehow and foreshadowing future events.
